The Islamic Federation in Vienna (IFW) is a humanitarian organization that organized the religious life of Muslims fully. In addition to the care for teaching and mutual fulfilment of the commitment set tasks, the IFW deals with all matters relating to Muslims and defends their interests. The IAM is committed to improving the living conditions of Muslims and the protection of their fundamental rights. Basis of Islam understanding of the IFW are the teachings of Quran and Sunnah. Both are sources of guidance, both for the community, and for its members. It understands the IFW Islam in society and individual area as a way of life, their influence does not ends at the mosque door, but also in everyday life with the Muslims morally ethical values and standards plays a crucial role. For the IFW is not about the preservation of certain regional cultural forms of religiosity, but the practising of faith in the light of the Koran and the ensuing tradition of the prophet. In that regard, the IFW explicitly internalized by Koran and Sunna worn cultural diversity in the religious practice as a positive enrichment of social life and borders of Islam but not to the culture of a certain area.
So they are also involved in the social discourse to the settlement of the economic, political and social problems of society. On these issues it is to participate in the Islamic sources orientating, in discussion with other political and social groups. In her work, the IFW by the divine principles: "Enter into a competition in good and the fear of God", "the best of people is that the people most useful" and "easier, not more difficult". In their social relations defines the IFW their attention to the similarities, not the differences.
In addition to the commandments of Islam which meets on an individual level, there are starting from the common religious services, as the Friday prayer or the common ritual prayers to the pilgrimage many aspects of Muslim life, in the Community. For the protection of resources and poor people, the resistance against injustice, dissemination of good, the rejection of the condemnable and the establishment of justice in social relations that require a common effort, an organized structure. This necessity of coming together was an incentive for Muslims in Austria together under the umbrella of the IFW.
